This is where
I think we go the extra mile. If you
notice the beard of the Moose is hiding
behind the letters. That bugs me so we
are going to put it so it goes over the
letters. I go back to an original and
trace around the part of the beard I want to
hang over then EDIT> COPY that selection.
I then go back to my work in progress and
EDIT> PASTE the piece. Notice the
beard piece floating in mid-air.
Using the
Arrow tool I place the beard piece in its
proper place and there it is hanging over.
Nothing dramatic, but if you had an image
that had something long that just makes the
subject look weird if hiding behind, this is
how you get it to hang over.
Once it is
complete, I choose LAYER> FLATTEN IMAGE to
bring it all together. After that I
Select the entire logo choose EDIT > COPY
then I choose FILE > NEW and paste the image
into a new blank work area. Next I use
the COLORWAND Tool and select the background
area of White and when selected I hit the
DELETE button on my keyboard and wipe it
out. Indicated by the Gray Background
in the example. Select ALL and EDIT >
COPY
Open up your
helmet template and paste the logo on to the
helmet.
It is washed
out so I always go to IMAGE> ADJUST>
Brightness and Contrast to tinker with
cleaning it up. A little contrast here
a tad darker there...
Resize the
logo and move it closer to it's position on
the helmet using the Arrow Tool.
Next to get it
to have that look of being on a round object
pick FILTER> DISTORT> SPHERIZE. It is
best to have this in Active Preview so you
can see ther percentage of Spherize before
accepting it. It varies for me
depending on the image. I think I did
80% on this one. After doing this the
image will get a bit blurry, go back to
FILTER> SHARPEN> and sharpen the image once
- sometimes you have to do it twice.
Lastly move it
to the helmet, position it correctly, then
choose LAYER> FLATTEN IMAGE and you are
done.
